What we collect when you use startuphub.live or come to a StartupHUB event, why, who handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it. In plain English.
01Who we are
StartupHUB runs founder networking events — The Networking High Tea 48, Founder’s Baithak and our Networking Dinners — and this website, startuphub.live. In this policy “we” means StartupHUB, and “you” means anyone who uses the site or comes to our events.
For anything about your information, write to hello@startuphub.live or message us on WhatsApp. A person reads both.
02What we collect, and when
When you book a seat: your name, email address, WhatsApp number, LinkedIn profile link, business or startup name, what best describes you, your industry, what you are looking for and your current fundraising or investing intent — and, if you invest, your typical cheque size. We also record the event you booked, the amount due, any coupon you used, and the UPI transaction reference you give us after paying.
When you join the community: your name, email address, WhatsApp number, company and role.
When you ask to partner with us or join a waitlist: your name, company, email address, WhatsApp number, the partnership or city you are interested in, and anything you choose to write to us.
When you sign in: if you use an email code, your email address; if you use “Continue with LinkedIn”, the details LinkedIn shares when you allow it — your name, email address, profile photo and a LinkedIn account identifier. We never see your LinkedIn password.
We do not collect card or bank details. You pay by UPI in your own payment app; we only ever see the reference number you send us.
03How we use it
To run the events: to confirm your seat, match your payment, decide how to balance each room, and contact you about the event you booked — on WhatsApp and by email.
To run your account and the founder directory, if you sign in or choose to be listed.
To tell you about future StartupHUB events. You can ask us to stop at any time.
To understand which parts of the site work, so we can improve them.
We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to our partners or sponsors.
04Who handles it for us
A few services process your information on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:
05Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart. If you sign in, we keep you signed in using your browser’s storage. We also save an unfinished booking form in your browser for the length of your visit, so a refresh does not lose it.
We do not use advertising cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser; the site will still work, though you will need to sign in again.
06How long we keep it
Booking and payment records are kept as long as we need them to run our events and to meet accounting and tax requirements.
Community sign-ups, directory listings and accounts are kept until you ask us to remove them.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
07Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us for a summary of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or complete it, and ask us to erase it. Where we rely on your consent — being listed in the directory, or hearing about future events — you can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it.
You can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
To do any of this, write to us or message us on WhatsApp. We will act on it promptly.
08Children
Our events and this site are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.
09Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell people with an account or a booking.
